14.5 million - Americans with a Medicare Supplement plan

22.8% - Growth in the number of people enrolled in Medicare Supplement plans since 2015

57.7% - Only about half of Medicare beneficiaries compare their plans annually

The most popular Medicare Supplement plans are F, G and N

Medicare Supplement Plans, also known as Medigap plans, cover out-of-pocket costs that Medicare Part A and B don’t. They range in premiums and out-of-pocket costs, as well as a good portion of the alphabet, but Midwest Health insurance Solutions is here to help you find the best option for your health care needs.

Moderate out-of-pocket Costs and Premiums

Plans A and B

Medicare Supplement Plans A and B cover basic co-insurance and copayment costs for services like hospice, hospitalization and other medical expenses. Medicare Supplement Plan B offers similar options while providing additional coverage for Part A deductibles.

Plans D and C

To cover out-of-pocket costs leftover from Original Medicare, like coinsurance, copayments, emergency care abroad and the Medicare Part A deductible, Medicare Supplement Plans D and C are good options to consider. Medicare Supplement Plan C is available to those who were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020 and can assist with the Medicare Part B deductible.

Plan F

Medicare Supplement Plan F is only available to those who were eligible for Medicare prior to January 1, 2020. Plan F covers deductibles, copays and coinsurance not covered by Medicare which can run up your monthly premiums. However if you require a comprehensive care plan, supplements like Plan F will cover the remaining gaps left by Medicare. For lower premiums, a high-deductible option is also available.

Plan G

Plan G offers coverage in all gaps left by traditional Medicare coverage like coinsurance and deductibles. Plan G also helps with additional costs like emergency care abroad and excess charges from Medicare Part B. High deductible options are also available to lower your premiums.

Lower Premiums

Plans K and L

Medicare Supplement Plans K and L cover a percentage of costs like doctors’ services and hospital care. You are responsible for the remainder. However, each plan has its own maximum for out-of-pocket costs, which limits how much you have to pay annually.

Plan N

Medicare Supplement Plan N includes many of the same benefits as other low-premium plans, however, Plan N also includes copayments of up to $20 for offices and $50 for emergency rooms. The plan also covers Medicare Part A deductibles, skilled nursing care coinsurance and emergency care abroad.
